David Gilmore’s tribute to his late bandmate Rick Wright

Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour is furious the rockers did not play at legendary U.K. music festival Glastonbury because it denied his late band mate Rick Wright’s wish to perform at a major outside event.

Earlier this year (Jun2008) Gilmour spoke out against Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis, alleging he had been snubbed as one of the festival’s headlining acts in favour of younger bands.

Eavis quickly refuted Gilmour’s claims, insisting the line-up had been finalized before he was contacted by the rocker’s people requesting a slot at the event.

But Gilmour is not ready to forget the incident, saying it brings him great “sadness” that Wright, who died last month (Sep08) aged 65 after a short battle with cancer, didn’t get to live out his final career goal.
