Family and friends of Brooklyn actor John Costelloe, who portrayed the gay-fireman lover Johnny Cakes on ‘The Sopranos’, are shocked that he actually killed himself.
The late actor’s Sunset Park home still remains sealed with police stickers, more than a week after he ended his life.
The former FDNY firefighter had shot himself in the head in his basement bedroom on December 16, 2008.
The actor’s father said that the incident has shocked him. He still cannot get out of it. He says it is too much for him to handle. Costelloe’s friends too are still finding it hard to believe that he has passed away.
Joseph Gannascoli, one of Costelloe’s long-time friends who played mobster and closeted homosexual Vito Spatafore in the hit HBO series also expressed his solitude saying that he was shocked when he heard the news and got really sunk in it. He said he enjoyed Costelloe’s company and they had a blast whenever they were together. -Sampurn Media
